Bring on the chocolate, bring on the booze
‘Cause I’ve got the rejection letter blues.
They come email, they come snail
They all carry the same sad tale.

I did my best, and it’s really rough
When they tell me they don’t love it enough.
One of them must be from Miss Snark
There’s a stiletto stuck in my heart.

People say don’t take it personal
When you want a yes and you get a no.
But I write a lot of words and I get no pay
I thought I would’ve sold before today.

What’s wrong with them, can’t they see?
I’m the next Nora, Brockmann or Crusie.
My heroine’s quirky, my hero sublime
My sex scenes sizzle, every word shines.

I may be down, but I’m not out
Perseverance is what success is all about.
I’ll send ten more queries before the day is done
Surely one of these agents will be The One.

I’ll edit, revise, do whatever it takes
I’m determined to get and then eat my cake.
If agents and editors give me the chance
I’ll learn the steps to the publishing dance

I’ll put up a website, I’ll put up a trailer
Do whatever it takes to be a bestseller.
I know I can do it, I can, I can!
If you think I’m quitting, then think again.

My newest book will be the newest rage
Readers will savor every word on every page.
The characters are great, the plot high concept
I’ll get so many offers I won’t know which to accept

But until then I’ll stock up on chocolate and booze
‘Cause I’ve got a big case of the rejection letter blues.

OMG! I think I’m going to have to print this and tack it up on my bulletin board!

    My fav part:

“I did my best, and it’s really rough
When they tell me they don’t love it enough.”

I think I’ve heard that from too many agents lately…it’s driving me into a chocolate shock.

LOL, Cynthia, the phrase *chocolate shock* is going to be in my vocabulary from now on. Good luck on your agent hunt. At least you have your Red Sage credits. That’s got to be a plus!
