I see you healthy
I see you whole
I see you dance
With your daughter
On her wedding day
Many years from now.
I see you getting your dream agent
I see your name on the bestseller lists
I see you wildly successful
As you deserve to be
As you will be
In a very few years from now.
I see you quitting your job
I see you living in your dream house
I see you getting a Rita
At the RWA convention
And I will toast you over margaritas
Not too many years from now.
I see you healthy
I see you whole
I see you shining brightly
Now
And for many, many years
From now.

*Note: I woke up this morning with the idea for this poem. I wrote it quickly and hope to improve it later–but my sentiment needs no improving. Girlfriend, I see you whole and healthy, now and for many years.

Edie, this is so beautiful, you have me in tears. Liz, I hope everything in this poem comes true.
Okay … I’m in tears. Thanx, Edie. That was absolutely perfect.
Edie, I. DID. NOT. NEED. TO. TEAR. UP. RIGHT. NOW!!!!
You three, I’m reading your comments and crying too. But it’s a good cry. I did the Hugh Jackman visual, Liz, and instead of a vampire, all the little Jackman’s were shirtless pirates, cutting down the C cells like crazy.
What a beautiful poem, Edie. I sense something magical in the air, going to a friend in need. How sweet, how perfect.
LaDonna
Edie,
It’s beautifull, and it resonates with emotion and there is no way you could improve on that. And Liz, I hope EVERYTHING in that poem comes true for you.
Theresa
That was lovely – I’m teary now. May it all come true.
LaDonna, Theresa and Rebecca, I’m tearing up reading your replies. We’ve got some good, healing energy going on here.
I only discovered Magical Musings in the last few days (been reading lots of blogs since National!), and this was so special and lovely that I had to comment on it. My husband is a poet, and the first thing I’m going to tell him when he gets home today is to read your poem, Edie.
There IS magic in words and wishes like that.
A beautiful poem.
