Gilmore Girls

GilmoreI’ve discovered a magic place. Seriously, this show has been on television since what…2000? I bought the first season pre-Christmas, and in the process of watching it. I’m hooked. The good news, there’s several more I can buy and enjoy.

The first ingredient in this delicious series is location. I’ve always been fascinated with quaint New England towns, in this case Connecticut. Toss in mother/daughter relationships, quirky townspeople, a beautiful country Inn and walla…I’m glued to the tube. The show leaves me with a warm feeling. I laugh aloud, smile a lot, and generally don’t want the episode to end. It has everything I enjoy in a great book. Since I love relationship books, it isn’t surprising this series has touched me so much.

Gilmore Girls deals with life like any great novel. You have issues of failure, fear, romance, and disappointment. What keeps me coming back for more is it’s a “feel good” show. I’m a satisfied customer. So, if any of you know another great series out there, please share. And Gilmore fans, what keeps you coming back for more? Since I’m only on the first season, my burning question is whether Luke ever gets that date. No, don’t tell me…

On a totally different note, hubby and I have been catching up all the 24 episodes too. This series has us captivated. Theses two shows are at opposite ends of the spectrum here. LOL. But, for whatever reason I’m drawn to them, can’t get enough. Bottom line, the writing is excellent. What power the pen wields!

I LOVE Gilmore Girls! Love it. As much as Buffy, and that’s saying something! :)

  2. Edie Ramer says:

LaDonna, I was a Gilmore Girls fan, but I stopped watching this year. The first years were the best for me, so enjoy. One reason I stopped was I’m watching Veronica Mars and Boston Legal on Tuesday nights. Veronica Mars has the best plots, and I love Boston Legals sardonic humor and offbeat characters. That’s two hours of TV watching. A third hour would make me start to twitch.:grin. Maybe I’ll catch this season’s Gilmore Girls in reruns.

  3. Lynne says:

I keep hearing about all these TV shows, but I never do seem to get around to watching. I’m missing out!

  4. LaDonna says:

Yay, Zoe! Another Gilmore fan. LOL.

  5. LaDonna says:

Edie, I knew you’d watched Gilmore too. I will enjoy those early shows, trust me. And I agree, three hours and I’d be twitching too. hehe.

  6. LaDonna says:

Lynne, you’d enjoy this. Maybe I’ve just discovered Gilmore because I don’t watch television regularly. I’m a huge Idol fan, love talent shows. But usually I have no clue what’s on when. Maybe I need a Guide?

  7. spyscribbler says:

I love Gilmore Girls! I won’t spoil it for you, but I’m really glad of the turn this season has taken! My interest was flagging, but now it’s renewed!

And I’m totally awed by this season’s 24.

  8. LaDonna says:

Spy, we are the same page, girlfriend! LOL. Ran and I just finished season 3–Christmas presents. Now, let’s see we have 4 & 5 to watch, this is season six right? Glad to hear Gilmore got your attention again. I’ll stick with it too.

  9. LaDonna says:

Need to clarify, Spy…season 3 of 24. Not Gilmore, I’m still on 1. LOL.

  10. Liz Kreger says:

I’ve been hearing so much about this series, but never got around to watching any of the episodes. I’ll have to pick up the DVD … and then find some way to make the time to watch.

I love a program that leaves you with that feel good sensation. Sounds like its right up my alley.

  11. LaDonna says:

Liz, you’ll love it! The good thing, it’s cheap. LOL. When you’re so far behind in watching a series, the first ones are affordable.

  12. Theresa says:

    LaDonna,

I’ve heard alot of GG too, but have yet to watch one episode. You know why the show sticks in my mind so much though? A couple of years back, at the Emerald City Conference. When the agent and editor panel were asked what they were looking for– three of the agents and editors present said they were looking for a Gilmore Girl type book. Which of course made me wonder exactly what the show was about.

I wish I could remember who the agents and editors were, you should query them.

  13. Karin says:

i’m not a big television fan, but i am hooked on dexter.

  14. Rebecca/Kate says:

Would you believe it was my motorcycle riding, beer drinking, tattoed brother who turned me on to the Gilmore Girls?

  15. LaDonna says:

Theresa, if you remember who the agents and editors were pass it on, girlfriend! LOL. I just finished the last episode of season one last eve. I’m hooked. Looks like I’ll be buying two soon.

  16. LaDonna says:

Karin, I haven’t seen Dexter yet. I’m not tied to the tube either…who has the time? Unless it’s AI, or GG, 24. And the last two I watch on discs. That’s how I like it.

  17. LaDonna says:

Rebecca too funny! I love the image. I can just see your brother with his boots propped on an end table, laughing at GG. Thanks for sharing!

  18. Kathy Calarco says:

My t.v. watching is limited. It’s good to hear, though, that there are some well written shows still out there. Lately, as I’ve channel surfed, all I see are really stupid sit-coms stuffed between really bad commercials advertising more really bad sit-coms.

Thank God for American Idol, LOL :)

  19. LaDonna says:

Kath, I know what you mean. Lately, the show has to be really great, or shocking like Idol. LOL. It’s really hard for me to watch a 30 minute sit-com. And the commercials, I agree, don’t even get me started.

  20. I enjoy the Gilmore Girls, too. The humor works for me and I love the relationships. It’s worth watching to see the way the generations relate, too. Good dialogue and interesting situations keep me watching.
