Happy anniversary Theresa!
Just wanted to mention, a year ago this week Theresa and I joined this lively group of professional ladies. And when I say professional, I mean it down to the tips of my toes. These Magical gals don’t play around with their musings. I’ve never seen such a dedicated bunch in all my born days. And I’m proud to ride the cyber-waves with them on two different writer sites. Best commitment I’ve ever made. Well, hubby doesn’t count, although he’s a “keeper” too.
When I think of this past year, it’s been amazing. Not only has this been a learning experience, but has helped prepare me for the publishing world on all levels. We’re like a small business. Our blog-mommy Michelle, makes sure things are running smoothly. She shares her knowledge generously, and blazes a trail we can follow with all things tech. It takes some of us longer than others, but ya you wouldn’t know it with the teamwork here. Over the last year, Magical has added a Sold column, our books section, cool photos with our blogs. The Saturday guest bloggers and Sunday book reviews continue to be a popular event. I enjoy all aspects of Magical as a partner and daily reader. When I found this place, I remember thinking it was a one-stop shop for everyone. And a year hasn’t changed that perception, just enhanced it.
Magical has also led me to many great blogs, and I’ve made lasting friendships along the way. We’ve talked about serendipity here, and there’s never a doubt it’s working in all our lives. I enjoy going through life with my eyes wide open, so I can better understand the way of things.
So, feel free to share any “looking back” stories, or commitments you made that enriched your life. Maybe Edie, Michelle, Liz, and Theresa can add their own Magical stories. I’d like to thank them for making this last year the absolute best! I consider each of you a treasure.

I liked the agent spotlights, the first sale stories and the blurb posts. My most memorable comments are the one that has the picture of the humping fly.
I think Edie wrote that post. Sad to say, I can’t recall the topic, but boy do I remember our comments going all over the map while still heading toward the gutter.
Hey, Marcia! I love all those highlights you mentioned as well. And how could I forget the humping fly?
And since this is a lively bunch, I love how our comments do the ping-pong shuffle too. Makes for a fun day.
Happy Anniversary, LaDonna and Theresa! You two completed us.
I’m so grateful for all the friends I’ve made through Magical. It all started with the critique group where I met Michelle, Karin Tabke, Allison Brennan, Amy Knupp, Sharon Long (Maya Banks) and Jan Kenny. I knew Liz from my local RWA group, and when the critique group had an opening, I invited her to join us. It was Michelle’s idea to start Magical, and Liz and I said Sure! That’s how it’s been since. One of us gets an idea and the others say Sure! We’re all ready to take chances, and most of them seem to work. Like asking LaDonna and Theresa to join us.
Marcia, I think the humping fly blog was about sex. I got the most comments about that picture, lol.
Edie, thanks for the Magical history. All the gals you mentioned in your crit group are “good people.” So, Michelle was the brain-child of this haven. I’d forgotten who exactly it was.
Was the name known to y’all then, or did it come later in discussions? I really love the name. Also, did you notice Tinkerbell’s cousin wanted to join us today? She’s a little more subtle than Tink, but happy nonetheless.
Happy anniversary, Theresa and LaDonna! Wow, this year has really flown. I may have been the one to say to Edie and Liz, let’s do it, but it wouldn’t have been Magical Musings if they hadn’t said YES! And it wouldn’t have been better still if you and Theresa hadn’t said YES, too. And Edie is so right, the joy and success of this blog is that no one is afraid to suggest something. And most of the time, everyone else is happy to give it a go. My blog moment was when I changed the look of this blog, clicked update and then, with trembling hands, clicked View Site, to see if I had just made good or totally crashed and burned. LOLOL.
LOL, Michelle, I remember the moment you spoke of. And it turned out so beautifully. Really gave Magical a great feel. I also remember the flurry of emails the first week you shared how to post pics.
It was one of those “stretch” moments we all talk about here. The nice thing was being surrounded with team spirit for those…cough…who muddled through the jargon for a few days. Priceless!
Well, the way I remember it is that Michelle came up with the idea and my first thought was “What the bloody hell is a blog?” So, I was taken by the hand and persuaded to join this wonderful group. It has worked out so well over the past couple of years and with the addition of both you and Theresa, it was a nice rounding out a people.
So Happy Anniversary, ladies. Glad you joined us.
And who can forget that fly, Marcia?
Classic, Edie.
LOL, Liz! I had no clue what a blog was either. I remember emailing y’all one night thinking all the MM gals were probably sleeping, which is where we should’ve been. I wanted to see if anyone was awake out there, and you came back with no. I cracked up, and you proceeded to guide me through the post-a-pic crisis that I’d found myself in. Never forgot that, and it still makes me laugh.
LaDonna, I love the little fairy and meant to tell you. It has a “LaDonna” feel to it.
I think in our emails about the blog, when we talked about the direction we wanted to go, Michelle mentioned it would be our “musings”, and I suggested the Magical Musings name. We knew right away that it was a good fit.
Hehe, knew you’d like her, Edie. And our blog name is wonderful! It flows…
LaDonna and Theresa were stellar additions!
Here’s hoping the next year is even more enjoyable than the last!
Cheers, ladies.
Karin, so glad you stopped by! I wanted to celebrate Magical and what it means to me in a special way. Hearing all these stories, and remembering is fun.
Happy anniversary! Wow–time just passes so quickly, doesn’t it? I enjoyed reading the comments above about the history of MM. And you ladies already know how much I love this place–I think it is a fabulous blog and, well, THANK YOU! for creating this great place.
Hey, Cynthia, I feel the same way. That beautiful kernel of an idea that Michelle gave birth to was golden. Go glad Edie and Liz said yes, and when the pefect time rolled around Theresa and I were able to hop on the wagon!
Wagons HO! (I’m hearing the theme song from an old western series called, Rawhide!) hehe
LaDonna,
I had no clue a year had already gone by. Talk about fast. LOL. Happy anniversary to you too. And just think, while Magical might be thriving, we managed to massacre our own personal blog in less than six months… ROTFLMAO
Edie, Liz and Michelle– this past year has been, well, Magical. LoL. Finding you guys and becoming part of the MM team was one of the highlights of this past year. I can’t imagine a better crew to share the ups and downs of publishing with.
Lifting my glass in a cyber toast– may the next year be as magical as this one. May it also find the whole passel of us contracted to the publisher of our dreams. . .
Amen to all of that, Theresa! It has been a fantastic year, and I am only sorry that I couldn’t meet you in person along with the rest of the MM team in Dallas. One day . . .
Theresa, I smiled more than once thinking of that little blog. Just wasn’t its time, I guess. May it rest in peace. But hey, it’s because of that we became official bloggers. LOL. The very same day we teamed up with MM. So, it was definitely meant to be. Soon, you’ll have your Theresa Monsey website and you can announce it here!
I agree, Michelle, we’ll meet Theresa soon. And then, look out lounge!
