Review: Marked by P.C. and Kristin Cast

markedI’ve been fortunate to have read some fantastic books this year, and Marked is no exception. The world is different in this story, and vampyres have always existed. In fact, many are in the film industry, art, and the literary world. Zoey Redbird has been marked as a fledgling, and joins the House of Night for her training to become an adult vampyre. She’s selected as special by the vampyre Goddess Nyx, and therefore a threat to the Dark Daughters, an elite group that are misusing their Goddess-given gifts behind closed doors.

Zoey’s grandmother is a Cherokee wise woman. The family gifts have passed through generations, and those magical roots will serve Zoey well as she gathers those she can trust into her circle. She’s determined to face her destiny with courage, and stay true to her path.

There are about six novels now in this series, and hopefully more will follow. You can visit the House of Night special website here. And I love that the Casts are a mother-daughter team. This series is fresh and compliments Michelle’s blog this week. We’ve been discussing the YA genre at Magical recently, and it’s definitely something to check into. Since reading Twilight, I feel as if I’ve discovered a new world. You won’t be disappointed in this one.

  1. I couldn’t get into this series when my teen offered it to me. But there’s another vampire writer that I’ve just read, Claudia Gray’s “Evernight” which I like. It seems like right now there’s a whole bunch of vampire novels coming out. So I’m now branching out and reading werewolves and ghost tales. There are some very talented writers out there.
