Review – Hidden Currents

The seventh (and I think the final story) of the Drake sisters series, Christine Feehan has saved the best for last. Elle Drake, the youngest, and most powerful sister, is missing. Deep undercover in an attempt to break a slavery ring, she herself is taken by Stavos Gratsos, the man behind the crimes. Psychic, Gratsos has been searching for an equally powerful psychic to make his own and start his own dynasty. However, Elle isn’t cooperating. Through brutality, psychological torture and rape, he attempts to break her. And nearly succeeds.

However, the Drake sisters have been searching for Elle and eventually finds her in Gratsos’ remote hideaway in the Greek Islands. Through a coordinated effort of all the Drake sisters and their men, they manage to free Elle from her imprisonment. But they’re unable to free her from the damage done to her mind. Only Jackson Deveau has the ability and power to do that. Elle’s psychic mate from the moment they met, Jackson can heal Elle and make her whole again through his devotion and love. Jackson is the only person keeping Elle sane and whole. Unable to bear her sisters knowing the torture she endured, Elle can only turn to Jackson for comfort and healing.

But even her home, Sea Haven, isn’t safe. Gratsos is not willing to relinquish his hold on Elle and will not let anyone or anything stand in his way from getting her back.

I have to say, this book was both disturbing and impossible to put down. Christine did a stunning job wrapping up the Drake sister series. At least I assume this is the final book since its Elle’s story and she’s the youngest and most powerful Drake sister … destined to bear the next seven daughters and continue the ancient Drake line. This story is far darker than her previous Drake sister books and, in my opinion, the best. Hidden Currents wraps up a number of story lines that were left dangling a little bit in previous books and the villain comes to a fitting end.

Another book well done by Christine Feehan.

I was just looking at these today and trying to figure out if I should put it on my reading list for the year or not. :-)

The very first story was a short … included in an anthology. Can’t remember which one, though. It was the oldest sister’s (Sarah’s) story. From there, Christine went down the list of sisters and each had their own books. Good series.

  3. Guess I’ll have to get that one, too. It sounds so Christine!
