Hello everyone and thank you, Edie for inviting me to your blog.
My new book, Breakfast in Bed will be out soon. There was a little problem with the cover, it seems the red foil liked to stick to people’s hands more than to the book. The good news is the book has been reprinted, and is scheduled to hit the shelves by January 1st—just in time for all of you to use your Borders and Barnes & Noble gift cards. Yay!
Breakfast in Bed is the third book in my Domestic God series, but this book is really about an Anti-Domestic God. Rich Ronaldi is the only son of a very Italian family. All his life, Rich has been treated like the second coming. He never learned to cook, clean, or do laundry. When his girlfriend breaks up with him because he’s not marriage material, he decides to become a Domestic God to win her back. Unfortunately, it’s not as easy as he thinks.
Rich rents his sister, Rosalie’s apartment. Unbeknownst to both Rich and Rosalie, their other sister, Annabelle, sublets the same apartment to her best friend, Becca until her brownstone is remodeled. When Rich finds himself with a roommate, he uses it to his advantage. He makes a deal with Becca, she can stay if she becomes his own personal Domestic God coach.
Becca is not happy with the situation, especially since she really doesn’t like Rich. The man is too good-looking for his own good, and he’s just the type of man she goes out of her way to avoid. Unfortunately, she doesn’t have many other options, so she accepts the challenge; and believe me, it is a challenge.
Rich is book-smart, after all, the man has three post-secondary degrees and is a Psychology professor at Columbia, but he can’t run a dishwasher. Mayhem ensues. Rich is more focused on the challenge of winning his girlfriend back than he is on the way he actually feels about her. When he tries to show his girlfriend he’s changed, he realizes she’s not the woman he wants. The woman he wants is the one he’s currently living with. Now all he has to do is wear her down, which is just one of his many talents.
Here’s an excerpt…

Rich followed her to the kitchen and leaned against the breakfast bar, staring at her as if he could see beneath her clothes. It was unnerving, and she reminded herself of all the reasons she didn’t like him.“I know you don’t like me much.”
Becca took a cup from the cabinet. Ah, and he was a mind reader too.
“I don’t know why, but it doesn’t matter.”
“It doesn’t?” Wow, he was good. Not in that way, she reminded herself. And no, she wasn’t even that curious. She poured herself coffee.
He shook his head. “It might be a good thing.”
She looked up from the cup she was filling. “How can my not liking you be a good thing?”
“I need help, and I know it might come as a shock, but most women find me attractive. That would just complicate matters.”
“Color me surprised. Since you know I don’t like you, I suppose I can give up pretending that I do.”
He nodded and smiled a sinfully sexy smile that made her hormones do the cha-cha. She stepped out of the kitchen and picked up the sheets, blanket, and pillow she’d left for him in the living room, and returned them to the closet. Anything to get away from him. The man was a threat to her equilibrium. Unfortunately, he followed. “Okay, so since I don’t have to be nice, and you’re weirdly happy about that, why don’t you just leave?”
“I have a proposition for you.”
“No.”
“No?”
“That’s the answer to your proposition.”
“Don’t you even want to know what it is?”
“Not especially, but I will listen if you promise it will get you out my door sooner.”
He smiled again, and she rolled her eyes. She just wanted to be alone already. When it came down to it, she wasn’t much of a social person. She spent most of her time alone in her studio, and she was happy to do it. She didn’t need a man or company to keep her happy.
“Gina dumped me. She said I wasn’t relationship material because I don’t cook, clean, and do my own laundry. How hard can it be? I just need a trainer.”
“A trainer?”
“Yeah, like a domestic coach. Someone to show me the ropes. So I learn whatever I have to learn to make Gina think I’m not such a bad bet.” He might as well have asked her to streak through Times Square during rush hour.
If you want a sneak peek of the first chapter, it’s on my website at RobinKayeWrites.com.

Robin, I love this excerpt and your other books! I’ll definitely be getting this. Thanks for stopping off at Magical today. I know how busy you are finishing your last book in time for your deadline.
Robin,
Breakfast in Bed sounds too fun! I hope you’re enjoying your holidays, and I wish you continued success!

You’re right about those after-Christmas gift cards bringing readers to the book stores in droves. Best of luck with your upcoming release. The book sounds terrific!

Edie~
Thanks so much for having me. It was fun.
Diana~
The Holiday is always a crazy time here. Between my deadline and my daughter’s part in George Balancine’s The Nutcracker, I think we may all spend the holiday sleeping. Twinkle Toes will be off from dance for a few weeks which will be great for my writing (I hope) but not so good for her since she doesn’t know what to do with herself during down time.
Adele~
Thanks for dropping by! I sure hope you’re right. I absolutely adore gift cards, too bad my family doesn’t think they’re personal enough. What could be more personal than giving your favorite person access to any book he or she wants. Sounds like gift nirvana to me!
LOVE your books Robin! Such a neat twist and I’ve loved the first two so far. Can’t wait for the next one. Stinks about the red rubbing off, but it is a gorgeous cover.
Excited reader over here <<<!
Hi Rachie~
I’m en excited writer, there’s nothing we love more than hearing from people who love our work. Thanks, and I hope you enjoy Breakfast in Bed as much as Romeo, Romeo and Too Hot to Handle. When I was searching for an except for this blog, I forget I wrote the book and found myself in the middle of my Starbucks and laughing out loud at Rich’s antics. In my own defense, it’s been a while since I read it and I’m on deadline which means I’m running on caffeine and no sleep.
Robin, this book sounds like a hoot. I love the set up, the banter between your characters and the cover! You’ve got a winner here.
Keena~ Thanks so much! I had a great time writing it. I hope you enjoy it half as much as I did!
What fun. “Breakfast in Bed” sounds like a hoot. I can totally see the oil and water mixture between Rich and Becca. Never read the first two but I might have to check ‘em out.
Thanx for joining us here at MM.
Love the excerpt, Robin! And, oh, I know more than a few guys who could stand a lesson (or twelve) in cooking and cleaning–LOL! I’m happy to say my DH can do the latter rather well, but the former…not so much.
Liz~ Thanks for having me. Yeah, the oil and water thing is a lot of fun. Poor Rich doesn’t know what hit him, but then it’s not long before Becca’s wondering the same thing. They’re definitely one of my favorite couples. I hope you enjoy the books.
Marilyn~ My husband is the worlds best cleaner, but when it comes to cooking, all he can say is he hasn’t killed anyone yet. Since I always cook when I’m home, the fact that he and the kids survive his cooking works for me.
Robin, fun read! Thanks for the peek, cause I’ll have check this one out for sure. It’s great having you at Magical, and best wishes for your continued success too. Love the premise of this book, girl!
Thanks for having me LaDonna, it’s be a lot of fun!
Robin, I’m so sorry your book isn’t out yet. You may not remember, but last year after I read and loved your Romeo Romeo book I bought another copy to take to the Austin RWA Christmas party book exchange. There was a lot of interest when I talked about the book as we’re required to do when someone chooses the book we bought. A member even emailed me because she couldn’t remember the title and author and wanted to buy the book. So my intention was to buy your book for this years party, but it’s Tuesday. Shucks!!
I’ll definitely be buying it for myself though.
Jan Bold
Jan, I do remember you! Heck, I even kept the email, I think. I’m sorry they probably won’t be out. They hit the warehouse yesterday and from warehouse to shelves usually takes 3 weeks, there’s a chance they might hit the shelves before the 22nd. It’d be worth a phone call if you’ve got the time. If not, just be sure to tell everyone at the next meeting how fabulous it is!
Hugs…Robin
Great excerpt! Sounds like a wonderful book.
