I’m very excited to talk about two very exciting topics today!  The first is the release of theMurder She Writes Presents, GUNS AND ROSES anthology!

This isn’t your run of the mill let’s-pull-some-old-stuff-out-from-under-our-beds-and let’s see-if-someone-buys-it anthology. Oh, no-no-no!  This is 156,000 brand spanking new, original, written-just-for GUNS AND ROSES words!  It’s a steal at $4.99! A steal I tell you! Here’s the Amazon link:

FYI We’re #1 on the Kindle Movers and Shakers list!

GUNS AND ROSES can also be found at all of the other digital vendor sites.

The amount of work, creativity and expense that went into to producing this New York traditional publisher quality work is off the charts crazy!  But the proof is in the pages. They are amazing.  Simply amazing!

Just as exciting as this anthology is the opportunity it gives me to introduce the irreverent, charming, doesn’t-keep-her-mouth-shut, don’t-be-fooled-by-my-southern-belle-looks heroine, Rebel Yell Culpepper! She’s a kick and some of the things she says crack me up!  REBEL ROSE, my novella in the anthology is the prequel to my Rebel Yell, mystery suspense series.

I cannot ever remember having so much fun writing!  I love this character.  I love her personality. I love her candor. Her charm and her lack of a filter. She’s bigger than life, and I look forward to watching her grow and evolve one book after another.

Here’s my guarantee to you if you decided to download a copy of GUNS AND ROSES: when you read REBEL ROSE, you will smile, laugh and smile some more.  When you get to the last word of the last page, I promise you, you’re going to miss that girl, and Detective Cantrell too.  I haven’t read all of the stories in the antho yet, but I’m working my way through them and I have not read one I haven’t loved.  I know you will love them too.

Here’s the blurb for REBEL ROSE

Solving murder was never so…irresistible…

For Detective Cash Cantrell, hunting down a University serial killer is as routine as strapping on his gun each morning. Until he comes face to face with meddlesome coed, Rebel Yell Culpepper. He doesn’t know if he should arrest her or kiss her, but one thing Cash knows for sure, Rebel is key to finding the murderer, and the killer knows it too..

Now, I’d like to share something with you all.  It’s the foreword to GUNS AND ROSES. It’s from the heart, from all of us to all of you, our readers, the ones who make it so we can keep doing what we love to do most:  tell stories.  I could not be prouder to be surrounded by such an amazing group of women as the lethal ladies I blog with at Murder She Writes.

Synergy is a remarkable phenomenon. From the Greek synergia, meaning to work together, synergy is one of the most powerful forces on earth, driving chemical interactions at the molecular level, taking sports teams to world championships and keeping the kitchen of a five-star restaurant cooking with fire.

On a personal level, the book you are about to read is a quintessential example of synergy, a product greater than the sum of its parts, when ten like-minded, but completely different, creative brains work in partnership toward a single goal. In this case, our goal was simple: to entertain the hell out of you.

We are the authors behind the long-running (and, we say humbly and happily) quite popular MurderSheWrites blog. Started in 2005, the MSW blog has always enjoyed a large and lively audience of readers, writers, and publishing industry experts.

All of us are primarily, but not exclusively, writers of romance and suspense, enjoying a wide spectrum along both those popular bands. Among us, we have over 150 published novels, numerous appearances on the New York Times Bestseller lists, dozens of industry awards, and, yeah, over twenty kids. Thanks to amazing and palpable synergy, we are also close friends who love, respect, admire, and depend upon one another.

So, it was through the marvel of that synergy that the anthology Murder She Writes Presents: Guns and Roses was born.

This is a collection of ten never-before published short stories and novellas, each penned by one of the Murder She Writes bloggers exclusively for this collection, all inspired by our mutual love of suspense and romance. Some of them are dark and tense; others are light and wild and might give you a few new laugh lines. Most are loosely connected to existing popular series, yet all stand entirely alone. Many will make you chuckle, one or two might make you cry, and there are a few that will require the use of a fan and cold water.

We couldn’t be more excited about this groundbreaking project, hoping to give a treat to our loyal readers and open the door to new ones. At the end of each story, you’ll find the author’s bio, with a link to their website, and in the back of the book, there’s a list of each author’s books, should you want to explore more of their works.

The synergy that created this project is alive and thriving every weekday at —come on by and say hello. Stay to laugh, learn, sigh or cry… we all have a different perspective, but one very special voice.

And now, sit back, click to the next page, and behold the synergy of romance and suspense.

All the best,

Lori, Allison, Josie, Toni, Sylvia, Laura, Sophie, Rocki, and Karin.

I’m giving away two digital copies of GUNS AND ROSES today, all you have to do is answer this question to be entered in a drawing:  What is your favorite one liner from any book or movie?

I’ll pick two random commenters and post their names by midnight tonight!

Please feel free to share this blog with all of your friends and family on facebook and retweet ‘til your hearts’ content!

Hi Karin! This book sounds like tons of fun. I love anthologies. They have introduced me to a lot of new writers I hadn’t read before. My favorite one liner from a movie has to be from my first favorite movie of all time Dirty Dancing. “Nobody puts Baby in a corner.” I still love watching that movie 20 some years later!

Thanks for the contest and have a wonderful day!

  2. JoAnna B says:

This sounds great! I will definitely have to check it out. I always liked he line from Jerry Maquire: “You had me at hello.”. And of course the other popular line for the moving: “Show me the money!”. 🙂

  3. Definitely added to my Amazon wishlist. =o)

  4. Edie Ramer says:

I LOVE the description of your novella. And since I love to smile and laugh and smile more, yours will be the first story I read! Great heroine name, too!

  5. What a journey it’s been Karin! I’m excited about this book! 🙂

  6. Misty Evans says:

Congrats on the new release, Karin! It sounds fabulous and I can’t wait to dig in and read your story as well as the others. MSW is a great blog…all of you are so talented and are constantly coming up with things that are fun and inspirational and get me thinking.

My favorite book line: “Whatever souls are made of, his and mine are the same.” Emily Bronte, Wuthering Heights

  7. CrystalGB says:

Your anthology sounds good. Some of my favorite one liners are “You complete me.” and “You can’t handle the truth.”

  8. Artemis says:

Karin, I love all of your work and whether I win or not, this is definitely going on The List. So, if I happen not to be a fortunate one, I’ll just have to mosey on over to B&N and load it up on the Nook.

One of Hubs and my favorite movies is TOMBSTONE which we have watched who knows how many times and will view many more times to come. There are several favorite lines I could quote but I’ll leave you with this gem. Which of course, all the best lines were spoken by Doc Holliday: Why Johnny Ringo, you look like somebody just walked over your grave.

    Just love that movie!

  9. Woohoo this is going to be a fun ride! From the beginning, working on this project with my co-bloggers has been amazing. On a daily basis, I am awed, humbled, thrilled, and impressed by the amount of professionalism and talent that has been poured into this project. I’m just now getting through the stories and each one is FANTASTIC. What a remarkable range of voices and mix of styles — and these babies are NOT short stories. Many of the novellas are more than 20,000 words of suspense, seduction, and satisfying endings.

I am so proud to be included in this collection, and thrilled to be introducing my readers to a brand new Bullet Catcher!

  10. Wow this looks amazing! I’m so excited 😀

  11. From the brilliant ‘The Pianist’ the line Adrian Brody’s character said to his sister as they walked to the train that would take her to a certain death, ‘I wish I could have known you more’. Not that the line is earth shattering, but after losing a brother to cancer at a young age, I often wish I could have gotten to know him…really know him. Sorry so sad! Anyway, thanks so much for this awesome chance! 🙂 Marnie

  12. Karin,
I LOVE your story! I think I’ve spewed my tea, like seven times since I began reading it. Brava on creating such a sweet, sassy, sexy lady for the rest of us to enjoy.

I’m so proud of this anthology. Everyone brought their A game. I’m so glad it gives readers such a great sampling of the depth and breadth of

As always, you are a joy to read.

    — Josie

  13. ClaudiaGC says:

I’m so looking forward to reading this anthology!
I’m a huge Star Trek fan so my favourite one liners are “Make it so!” and “Engage!” from Captain Picard.
    Thank you for the giveaway!

  14. I’m thrilled to be in this antho as Lori Armstrong and Lorelei James.

One of my fave lines from a movie? AIRPLANE – when the air traffic controller Lloyd Bridges keeps saying…I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.

  15. Cynthia Eden says:

This anthology looks incredible! Can’t wait to get my copy and check out all of the stories. Congrats!

  16. I started reading the anthology last night and I’m so excited about it — and I’m not just saying that. We start with Rocki’s amazing story and Bullet Catcher fans will be thrilled … if you haven’t read Roxanne St. Claire, you’re in for a BIG treat (plus I know you’ll be looking up her other Bullet Catcher books!) I can’t wait to get to Karin’s story (reading in order, you know!) Except, well, I already read the Bobbie Faye story. Couldn’t help it! I’ve been waiting for two years, I had to! That one story alone is worth the price of the book.

Okay, seriously, I’m sounding like a total fan girl or promo whore and I’m not. Just happy about this anthology. 🙂

  17. Na S. says:

Happy Release! I hope the anthology keeps moving and shaking up those lists. There are a number of authors I’ve been meaning to try and this is a great way to do so. I think it’s wonderful all the authors submitted original works to it. I’ve read some of the descriptions of the stories and many have caught my interest.

I’m not much of a movie-buff so memorable one-liners are hard to come by…
I do recall “I’ll never let go Jack” from Titanic where Rose can’t bring herself to let go of Jack while they’re in th freezing water. A tearful moment!

  18. “He bought a chocolate-chip cannoli, told me he’d joined the navy, and charmed the pants off me four minutes after closing, on the floor of Tasty Pastry, behind the case filled with chcolate eclairs.” Karin, I don’t think I’ll tell you who, but the sexy Italian who charmed her pants off is one of my favorite parts of reading “her.”

Loved this post. I’ve only read Sophie Littlefield so you and the host of others will be a wonderful surprise. Murder She Wrote is a great sight by the way 🙂

    • Florence, I know I should know who said that line! But I don’t! Who said it about who?? Plz tell me!

Sophie is awesomeness. I hope you enjoy the rest of the MSW goils.
Thank you for liking the Murder She Writes website. We take a lot of pride in it and have managed to stay together when so many other group blogs have fallen apart.

      • It’s from the first chapter of One For the Money, by Janet E.
It’s right before she finds him on the street, runs him over with her car and breaks his leg :):) Once while in a depression, I read 1-7 and bought latest at that time #8 and by the time I finished all of them, I forgot why I was depressed. Reading for the fun of it can be so damn good.

  19. Sophie Littlefield says:

i’m having such a great day celebrating our “baby,” the new anthology!

I adore movies. I’ve been on a bit of a Liam Neeson kick lately. I can’t remember any specific lines, probably because whenever the camera cuts in close on that man – especially if he’s about to kick some ass – he could be ordering a pizza and he’d still look hot.

  20. Judi Legacy says:

Ohhh the book sounds so good and stories by alot of authors I read. The first line that came to mind “Go ahead. Make my day!”.
Thanks for the chance to wind.

  21. Liz Kreger says:

Oh, how fabulous, Karin. Congrats on the release and I love the cover. Y’know I’m not a suspense reader, but I’m plannin’ on making an exception with this.

As far as one liners … how can I resist? Casablanca with Humphrey Bogart. “To round up the usual suspects.” Love that one. Casablanca is full of so many one liners that I could rattle off a half dozen.

  22. Thank you, Liz!
I love the movie Casablanca. I watched it with hubby for the first time ever when we were dating. it brings back lots of great memories!
