It’s in the pictures…

Update: The winner of ANGEL BETRAYED is…Danni T!

Whenever possible, I try to set my books in locations that I’ve actually visited. This way, I can sprinkle in extra details to try and enrich the scenes. I can add smells, sights, noises–all the things that I hope will make the story really come alive for readers.

My FALLEN series is set in New Orleans, a city that I absolutely love. I visit the Big Easy often, and I knew it would be the perfect place for my fallen angels. And when I saw the cover for ANGEL BETRAYED, with the glimpse of a cemetery in the background (just like the St. Louis Cemetery that I featured in the book), well, I sure was one happy author.

Today, I thought I would share a few pictures of New Orleans with you. Many of these pictures helped to inspire scenes in ANGEL BETRAYED. Hope you enjoy them!

First up, the St. Louis Cathedral.  How could this place not be inspiring?  When I stare up at this cathedral, I can imagine angels swooping in….

No trip to New Orleans would be complete without a visit to one of the big cities of the dead–the St. Louis Cemetery.

And, of course, let’s not forget the voodoo…

New Orleans is definitely a city that seems to be filled with magic, and,  if you go by my stories…it’s also a city full of fallen angels.

Now…how about we do a giveaway?  Tell me…is there one special city that you’d love to visit?  One random commenter will be picked to win a Kindle copy of ANGEL BETRAYED.

Good luck!

Great cover! I love the photos, too! Cemeteries are weirdly kind of peaceful. I’ve been to New Orleans before Karina. We loved the French Quarters. It was my favorite place in the city.

There are so many cities that I’d love to go to. It’s hard to pick. Can I just say a country? I’d love to visit Scotland. And Wales. And Ireland. lol While I’m there, I would of course go to England. And France is just a hop away…

    • Cynthia Eden says:

Thanks, Edie! And, wow, I bet Scotland would be an incredible place to visit. So much amazing history! Same goes for Wales and Ireeland, England and France…hmmm, I think we need to take one major trip!

    China…

I wanna see the GREAT WALL. ;-)

  3. Amy Remus says:

I have never been to New Orleans but would love to go someday. I would also like to go to Las Vegas just to see what all the fuss is about. I have never been out of the country either, so someplace like Ireland or Paris would be neat to see. That is one of the great things about books set in different places – if the author does a great job describing the location/setting you feel as though you are there! Thanks and congrats on Angel Betrayed!

  4. That is the one Southern city that we haven’t been to yet that I’d like to visit! Especially want to go after seeing your pics!

  5. Beth Watson says:

Great cover Cynthia! I love New Orleans! Haven’t been there in a few years. The Voodoo Museum is quite….interesting. Took a ghost tour last time I was there also, which was cool.

The two cities at the top of my bucket list are Istanbul and Moscow. I plan to go with my dad to Istanbul next year. Can’t wait!

Hubby and I absolutely adore New Orleans. Been a couple of years since we’ve been there but I think its time to plan another trip. Loved San Francisco and thoroughly enjoyed the conference in Time Square of New York City. Great place to visit but to live there? I’d be exhausted just by all the energy in that city.

Been to Paris and loved it. I want to someday go to London. Oh … and I highly recommend anywhere in Australia. Been to most of the major cities there and loved ‘em and the people.

Thinking on it … there are so many places that I want to go. Plan on going to Costa Rica next year when the little darlin’ has a school trip there. Guess I better renew the passports.

I really can’t wait to read Angel Betrayed. Loved Sam’s character in Angel of Darkness. I would love to visit Seoul, South Korea. My whole family is addicted to everything South Korean. So that would definitely be the city I would pick. I would also like to see Dublin, Ireland.

Besides my dream of visiting London at some point, I’d love to visit New Orleans. I’ve driven through on the way to Florida, but never had a chance to stop and check it out. There are so many things to see and do, I think it would be a great place to visit.

There is not really any city that comes to mind…I am horrible with geography. Basically I just want to get out of Texas! I haven’t traveled at all and neither have my girls and I want them to start and not end up like me! One of these day…

  22. Diane says:

Haven’t found it at the stores yet, I’m going to check Kobo now.

  23. Huge congrats on the new release, Cynthia! I loved the first book in the series, and can’t wait to read this one.

I’ve visited New Orleans in 1989! So a loooooong time ago. And I had a lot of fun there. I still make beignets for my kids from a recipe book Liz gave me for Christmas one year :)

I would love to visit Prague. I’ve heard a lot of great things about it. And Budapest.
