Official Description:

NOTHING CAN SHAKE A COP FROM PURSUING JUSTICE—except a beautiful witness marked for death, in New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster’s sexy new series…

When Detective Logan Riske goes undercover to find Pepper Yates, a potential link to his best friend’s unsolved murder, he vows to gain her cooperation by any means necessary. But the elusive beauty is more suspicious—and in far more danger—than he expected. And the last thing Logan needs is to start caring for her…

Pepper has spent the past five years dodging the corrupt club owner who will stop at nothing to keep her silenced. She can trust no one, not even the handsome new “construction worker” who’s moved in next door. The heat between them is undeniable. But will surrendering to passion bring her the safety she so desires—or will her feelings for Logan draw them both into a killer’s crosshairs?

My thoughts:

One of my favorite books is When You Dare from Lori Foster’s “Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor” series. So I was excited to read Run the Risk, the first book in her new series, Love Undercover. I thought this was a great start to the series. Run the Risk features the love story of Logan Riske and Pepper Yates, but also introduces us to the character’s we’ll see in the upcoming books: Pepper’s brother Rowdy, Logan’s brother Dash, and Logan’s partner Reese.

Lori Foster’s bad guys are involved in human trafficking in this book, but it avoids any gritty details that would take the pleasure out of reading.

There are a lot of secrets in this book, each character seems to be hiding something. When Pepper discovers that her sexy neighbor Logan is an undercover cop, the entire tone of the book changes as action increases and secrets unravel. I don’t want to give any spoilers, so I’ll opt with saying less to avoid that risk. If you like your romance with some action and a little mystery thrown in, then I think you’ll enjoy this book. Just beware, if you’re like me, you’re not going to want to stop after one. This book definitely sets up a series and will have you anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.
