I’ve known Carey Baldwin for some time now, and not only is she gorgeous but she’s one of the sweetest authors I’ve met, and one of the most talented. Just read the amazing reviews for her debut romantic suspense, First Do No Evil! Oh, and I forgot to mention…she’s a doctor! Yes, a real doctor, she doesn’t just play one in books. Join me in welcoming Carey!
I also want to say that I found Liz Kreger’s post earlier in the month, in which she shared her personal experience with breast cancer, very moving. I lost my mom to breast cancer when she was near the age that I am now. This year, I wanted to truly celebrate her life and the life of every person who has struggled with this terrible disease. So before I tell you about my new release, I’d like to share my experience on Team Bodice Rippers.
Team Bodice Rippers consists of me, Tessa Dare, Leigh LaValle and Courtney Milan. With the help of our community, the romance community, we were able to raise over $10,000 for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer to help with research for finding a cure and for support for those living with breast cancer today. You can view our team page here.
I’m sending out a huge hug and giant-size thank you to each and every person who either made a direct donation to our team, or purchased our charity anthology, THREE WEDDINGS AND A MURDER. The anthology was a limited edition, and all profits went directly to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. For those of you who missed the anthology, the individual novellas will be available from each author at some point in the future. You can check our websites for information.
In addition to fundraising for the Avon Walk we…walked! With Leigh LaValle cheering us on from her nursery with her brand new infant in her arms, Tessa, Courtney and I set out on a wonderful journey. Our walk took place Sept. 22 of this year in Santa Barbara California.
Along the way we made some amazing friends, like these ladies, Team Blister Sisters.
Every step of the way -and there were a heck of a lot of steps on this two-day journey- we were cheered and encouraged by men with pink beards, jokesters, and even puppies in pink tutus. We slept in pink tents…even our blisters were pink!
Was it hard? I’d be lying if I said otherwise. In fact one member of our team, Courtney Milan, is still recovering from an injury she sustained on the walk. But walking for two days is nothing compared to living with breast cancer, and I can’t think of a more wonderful journey than the one I shared with the fantastic men and women who were part of the Avon Walk. So if you are wondering if you can make a difference, the answer is yes! You can!
If I can shift gears for a minute, I’d like to also tell you about my new release
FIRST DO NO EVIL. It just so happens that my book opens on Halloween. And Halloween happens to be the worst day of the year for my heroine, Dr. Skylar Novak.
For those of you who are interested, I’ve pasted the blurb here.
One killer is in her blood. The other is in her house.
There’s a killer lurking in Dr. Skylar Novak’s family tree: the gene for breast cancer. That’s why her brilliant brother invented the Bella vaccine. But even if the miracle drug protects her from the cancer that took her mother’s life, it can’t save Sky from the flesh and bone evil stalking her in secret.
When the killer strikes, detective Daniel Benson finds himself in the wrong place at the right time. The bold detective manages to save Sky’s life…just in time for her to return the favor. Survival leads to seduction, and Danny risks everything—his career, even his life, to keep Sky safe. But will the buried sins they uncover cost him her heart?
Danny’s strong arms may hold her close, but only Sky can stop the terror that’s coming next…
Warning: Contents include: One heart-melting hero—good luck getting this delicious detective out of your head. One reluctant heroine—wielding a Glock was never on her to-do list. One crazed villain—an entire flock of baa baa black sheep won’t be enough to put you to sleep. And a lifesaving vaccine with one deadly side effect—murder.
I’m happy to give an electronic copy of FIRST DO NO EVIL to one commenter today.
Lori, thanks again to you and your readers for having me!
