JUST ONE MORE KISS

There’s no place like home for the holidays. And the Lucky Harbor Bed & Breakfast is bursting with festive lights and good cheer. But for Mia, Christmas is turning out to be anything other than merry and bright. Her recent break-up with her boyfriend Nick has made her return bittersweet. But then a surprise arrives, when Nick follows her to town bearing gifts-and asking for forgiveness.

Nick grew up without a family of his own so he’s overwhelmed by the love that Mia receives from all her relatives, gathered together to celebrate the season. Under their watchful eyes, Nick finds earning back her trust the hardest thing he’s ever had to do. If he succeeds, he will receive the greatest gift of all, Mia’s love for a lifetime.

My Thoughts:

If you have read the first three books of Jill Shalvis’ Lucky Harbor series you will absolutely love this book. It is a Lucky Harbor novella that you can read as a standalone but will enjoy the family reunion more if you have read the first three in the series. In this story, we find Mia come home from college in New York for Sawyer and Chloe’s wedding. Mia asks her boyfriend, Nick to join her, but he says no, which breaks her heart. So she heads to Lucky Harbor by herself and when she arrives she finds her ex-boyfriend, Carlos, who proposed to her a few months prior, has moved on and is dating someone else. Talk about feeling alone. Of course, throw in a bunch of meddling parents, aunts, and uncles and you get a fun Lucky Harbor story!

I really enjoyed Under the Mistletoe, especially since I got to see how everyone I fell in love with at the beginning of the Lucky Harbor series is doing! I think Jill Shalvis does an amazing job with her characters and the crazy family that Maddie, Tara and Chloe have made. Sometimes novella’s can lack in substance but Ms. Shalvis did a wonderful job with the plot of this one. One of my favorite scenes was at the wedding reception where Jax, Ford and Sawyer were drilling Nick all while Chloe and Mia were eavesdropping. Mia having three protective of men like them just melts my heart.

Mia and Nick are such a good fit for one another. What I really enjoyed about this story was that the Mia and Nick had been dating for six months by the beginning of the story. Many times we get to see the meet and fall in love part but not how they are doing six months down the road. It was a nice change that we got to see these two work through things that are very common in a relationship. I hope that we catch of glimpse of them in a future Lucky Harbor book to see how they are doing. I highly recommend this fun read just in time for Christmas!

I enjoy stories that can be read alone or as part of a series. Revisiting characters I love from earlier books is a special treat. This sounds great. Thanks for the review.
