Update: Our gift card winner is…Nadene Reynolds. Congratulations, Nadene! I’ll email you with prize claim information today.
It’s happened again. Another year–all but gone. As we prepare for the hustle and bustle of Christmas at my house, I can’t help but think about what will come *after* Christmas. The end of the year. The start of 2013.
For a lot of people, the end of the year is a time of reflection. You look back over all of the things that you did (or didn’t do–cough, cough–like that language I was *supposed* to learn–I’ve been making a resolution to learn Italian for the last four years!). You also look ahead and plan for the things that you want to accomplish (Italian, dang it!).
2012 was a very busy year for me. Quite honestly, I can say that it passed in a haze of writing. But that’s what I want. I want to spend my days writing books. I get lost in those books. I find new worlds, new characters, and they make me happy.
So what do I want for 2013? The same thing, please. I want to be able to write more books! I want to release more vampire tales, more werewolf tales, more serial killer stories. I want to push my imagination and see what comes from the shadows in my mind. If I can do that, then 2013 will be grand for me.
And, in the “extras” column, I’d sure like to:
1. Go zip-lining. What? It sounds fun!
2. Take a cake decorating class. You should see my cakes–wait, no, maybe you shouldn’t. Not until *after* I take my class.
3. Head out & go river-rafting. I think 2013 will see me grabbing tightly to my sense of adventure–and to the raft.
4. Travel to some place that I’ve never been before. The world is big, and I feel so small. I want to see more!
5. Learn that dang Italian!
What about you? What would you like to do in 2013? I’ll pick one random commenter to win a $20 Amazon.com gift card.
Happy holidays!! I wish you a season filled with wonder, magic, and good times!

I want to write, write, write in 2013. When I’m not writing, I’ll be doing something with family and/or friends. I think I enjoy it all!
In 2014, I might slow down a bit. We plan to go to Scotland, and that should be wonderful.
Scotland sounds amazing! I bet you are already counting down for that trip!
Those sound like fun goals, Cynthia! I would like to come up with an adventure of some sort and go after it as a family. I would also like to have my whole family run in at least one 5K race together. I have enjoyed getting to know a lot of author’s this year and want to grow my new blog to support those fantastic authors in anyway I can. I plan to do a shout out to MM this Friday since you have all helped me so much with your blog posts. One of my biggest goals would probably be to meet at least one of the authors I have read! Not a lot happens in central Illinois but maybe I can get up to Chicago or another city for some book signing event!
Amy, you are always so great!
A family adventure would be so cool–I hope you take an amazing adventure with your fam!
Your goals sound great. I want a peaceful year without any tragedy. 2012 has been a hard year for my family.
Crystal, I am so sorry. I hope 2013 treats you much, much better.
For 2013 I would like to spend more time with family and friends, discover new authors, traveling and most of all I would love a year where love and peace will take precedence.
I hope you get everything you want from 2013, Nadene!
I would like to learn Spanish along with my daughter (freshman in H.S.) so I could help her practice at home. The fact that we’d be able to drive my DH crazy would just be a bonus.
Becky, while you learn Spanish, I’ll try Italian. Let’s do this!
I want to finish writing my book
Good luck, Cynthia!
I want to be healthy, lose weight, and make everlasting memories, no matter what they are!

I want to spend more time with my kids & grandkids, write more, & worry less. Cynthia, don’t worry about the cake classes, my oldest is a wonderful decorator & would be happy to teach you. On the flip side, if you don’t take classes you could also make yourself even more famous on the Cake Wrecks website
LOL, I have a feeling that all of my cakes will be wrecks!

Merry Christmas, Cynthia!!
And LOL about the Italian… I took a semester of it once, years back, and all I remember now is how to say hello and goodbye and how to order two chocolate gelato cones. Granted, these are the essential phrases…
Those are definitely essential phrases!

Hi Cynthia! Wow, you are brave– I will not be doing anything remotely related to a zip line. LOL Well, in 2013 I would like to finish and submit a novella, plant a new herb garden and finally, have a weekend away with my husband, sans kids.

I would love to be able to retire and read as much as I like!
I’ve said for many years that I’m going to brush up on my French and learn Italian. I start and then I stop. Start and stop. Maybe the language thing will be a lifelong goal.
You had an amazing year of books, Cynthia, and I look forward to reading all your new ones in 2013! I’ll keep writing, but I might try something completely different next year as well. The possibilities are endless.
I would love to go back to work! I’ve been a stay at home mom for almost 7 years now. I’ve seen every first, and nursed every owie. I’m ready to join the adult world again
In 2013 I will take a trip to visit my sister and friends in California, I had so much fun on my last trip earlier this year. I’d like to take a cruise as well, living in Florida there are lots to choose from, and read lots of books (pretty much a given).
