Official Summary:

Can she find the courage to love all over again?

Hunter Smith likes to keep out of messy situations; life is just easier if you don’t get emotionally involved. He’s never been a knight in shining armor before–but when he sees Abby Gray in trouble, he can’t stop himself from stepping in…

Trying to put the scars of the past behind her, Abby has decided to make a fresh start. Hunter’s offer of making her his new assistant could be a step in just the right direction. But is she ready to believe that happy-ever-afters can happen in real life–not just in fairy tales?

My Thoughts:

This was a nice story. It moved along at a good pace and I felt the characters were intriguing. Abby is coming out of an abusive relationship while Hunter isn’t interested in a relationship at all but can’t help himself from stepping in to help Abby when she is in trouble. While I continued to read the story to find out what was going to happen to two of them I couldn’t help but feel as though I was watching a story unfold rather than being a part of it. I normally feel as though I am in a story and really know the characters, but I never quite felt connected to Abby and Hunter. I think Barbara Wallace does a nice job of laying out the issues that Abby was working to overcome. I would have liked to understand Hunter more to really “get” him. The ending was done perfectly in my opinion. I think that helped me feel satisfied at the end – knowing Abby made good, smart decisions based on her past and Hunter was patient enough with her for them to finally get their Happy Ever After.
