My Thoughts:

Getting Rowdy by Lori Foster is a captivating and emotional read that you will find is hard to put down. I can’t believe I am starting Lori’s Love Undercover Series on the third book. I saw she had a new series out and wanted to read it but time and other books seemed to get in the way. However, now that I have read Getting Rowdy, I really want to go back and read the first two. I didn’t feel lost or that I was missing anything reading Getting Rowdy – it is just that the secondary characters were so awesome that I want to read their stories, too.

Rowdy Yates is the owner of a bar in which Avery Mullins is the bartender. Rowdy is quite the ladies man and never lacks for company. Avery is very careful with who she spends her time with since she is running away from a man that wanted to control her. Rowdy pursues Avery but she continues to turn him down. After all, she knows what Rowdy is like and doesn’t want to be just another one night stand. When someone from Avery’s past starts to threaten her, though, she turns to Rowdy for protection. As they spend more time together, they realize how compatible they are.

Lori Foster does a great job of building up the romance between Rowdy and Avery. He keeps trying like any guy would with the little jokes, touches, and kisses but she keeps him at arms length. She isn’t doing it in a teasing, annoying way, though. She is just very honest about her feelings for him and the reasons she wants to wait before they cross that line. Rowdy respects Avery’s wishes and shows his true character as a good guy. He also shows how compassionate he is for others in several situations throughout the story and those are the reasons that cause Avery to fall hard for Rowdy.

There is the right amount of suspense in Getting Rowdy to go with Rowdy and Avery’s story. The threat to Avery was what pushed her and Rowdy together and what eventually caused them to figure out what they wanted in a relationship. Rowdy and Avery are strong, honest characters that had issues to work through before they could be vulnerable and completely open to one another. If you are looking for a romantic suspense that is heavier on the romance and full of intense, real emotions, I highly recommend Getting Rowdy.
