Happy Halloween! My favorite holiday. I love the decorations, the scary movies, the candy, and especially the costumes. Wouldn’t it be fun to live in a world where we could dress up in costume any time we wanted? Just put on a mask or a hat or a cape and be someone else for a few hours? That would be a riot!

I took theater in high school and fell in love with the idea of slipping into a fictional character’s shoes for a while. It’s one of the reasons I write stories today…every day for a few hours, I get to be one (or two or three) of my characters. Some are witches, some are spies. There’s vampires, demons, a Hollywood chef…I get to live a lot of different lives vicariously and experience a rich world inside my imagination and on the page.

Two years ago, Edie Ramer asked me to help her pull together a paranormal anthology for Halloween in order to spotlight breast cancer awareness. Since breast cancer has affected a few of my family members and friends, I was thrilled to be part of a cause that combined reading and support for a cure. A new story was born (Revenge Is Sweet) with new characters I loved, and from that, a whole new series developed.

Entangled, A Paranormal Anthology, features eleven short stories – sexy, funny, scary, we’ve got the perfect mix for Halloween entertainment. It’s like dressing up and slipping into someone else’s life for a few hours without ever leaving home.

During the past two years, the anthology has raised over $14,000 for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and at the same time, given readers hours of enjoyment with stories by eleven best-selling authors. All proceeds from the sale of the book go to BCRF.

But just like November 1st rolls around too soon for me after a pimped out night of Halloween fun, now it’s time for us to take down the anthology. The last day to get a copy of Entangled is October 31s. We hope you’ll purchase your copy, if you haven’t already done so, and maybe one for a friend. Support breast cancer research by reading (and sharing!) a good book.

Happy Halloween and happy reading…what’s your favorite Halloween candy treat? The one you hide from the trick-or-treaters so it’s ALL yours? One commenter will win a free copy of ENTANGLED!

  1. Misty, I’m so proud of this book! The stories are so great, and you’ve been wonderful to work with. 🙂

My favorite used to be Snickers, but I noticed they changed it – it’s been a while, but I think they have less nuts in them. Now my favorite would be Reece’s Peanut Butter Cups. I love them so much, there is no way I could have them in my house for Halloween. I would eat way too many.

  2. Hi Misty,

It was an honor to work with you on this project!! I can’t believe it’s been up for so long already. Time is just whipping past.

I’m addicted to licorice and mars bars. Oh happy sigh. And therefore they can’t be in the house. lol.
Dale Mayer`s last blog was …Vamping with the vamps…and me!

    • Robin, it’s all good, right? Smart gal to keep your options open in the candy department. 😉

    • Thank you, Amy! It’s been a great two years working with this group of authors and supporting a cause we all believe in!

  3. I love Halloween. It was even better when the little darlin’ was young and went trick or treatin’. Now at 14 years old … no way! She still enjoys going to Halloween parties, though.

Favorite candy is anything sour and Kit Kats.
