It’s New Year’s Eve and millions of people out there are making their New Year’s Resolutions. Do you have one? I had two main goals for 2013: more family time and less stress.
A lot of amazing things have happened this past year. Many, many things for which I am grateful. We traveled a lot, including trips to Ireland and Hawaii. In fact, my son started doing schooling at home, in part, so we could travel more often. And my career has continued to thrive thanks to self-publishing, allowing for even more opportunities for myself and my family.
But there is one area that hasn’t changed. In fact, if anything, it’s gotten worse… my stress level. I come from a family of easily stressed people. Yoga, meditation, journaling; I’ve tried it all, and it does work. But that’s the problem…it takes dedication and lots of time.
Because of traveling, and because my son is doing his schooling at home, this past year I’ve had less time to work on my stress level and being positive. Something has to give. Unfortunately, the only thing I can give up is blogging at Magical Musings. My own personal blog has fallen to the wayside and sadly, this one must go too.
I hate to say good bye. As a writer we are often alone, and being a part of Magical Musings has made me feel like I’m working in a group setting, and not so isolated. I’ve gotten to know some amazing authors and wonderful readers through this group. But for my own sanity, I have to say adieu.
Many people tend to get depressed during New Year’s. They don’t see the possibilities, but only more disappointment. I admit, I used to be one of those people. But so many wonderful things have happened since I started changing my attitude that I can’t help but be excited about another year, and what the future holds. The travel, the time with my son, my career; there are so many things to wish for, so many things to work for. But my number one priority will be spending time on myself; time to find my “Zen,” if you will. I know if you really want something, you can achieve it. It might take work, belief, and most importantly determination, but you can do whatever you set your heart and mind to, and I am determined to be more Zen.
I want to thank you for being so supportive. I’ve loved getting to know you all and I look forward to seeing you around the writing community and Facebook. My hope for you this New Year is that you find your own Zen, whatever that may be!
