Book Summary:

Sassy, smart, and sexy, former supermodel-turned-tech guru Rubi Russo has it all—looks, money, confidence and freedom. Her life is a whirlwind of fast cars and fleeting affairs—and she likes it that way. With a past like Rubi’s, forever isn’t part of her vocabulary. So when studly Renegade stuntman Wes Lawson wants to take their friendship to the next level, she’s all out.

Raised a simple country-boy, Wes knows the brazen Rubi isn’t his type. But after spending time with her, he discovers she’s everything he’s ever wanted in a woman. To win her wild rebel heart, he’ll have to prove he sees behind her smokescreen to all the goodness she tries to hide. Then it’s just a matter of crushing her fears, shattering her barriers, and convincing her that loving him is everything she’s been missing in her life, too.

Piece of cake.

My Thoughts:

You have got to read this series. Skye Jordan writes brilliant stories with well developed characters that are smart and witty. Rebel is the second book in Skye’s Renegades Series and it is so good. I had tears in my eyes several times throughout the book and felt the panic attacks the heroine went through. I also felt the unbelievable joy the two characters went through when they experienced true love. It’s like I couldn’t wait to get to the end for the happy ever after yet I didn’t want it to be over. The cover of this book is spot on from the way the I pictured the characters to how they are holding one another.

Rebel follows Rubi and Wes, two really good people who appear to be rebels, all wrapped up in pretty packages. You could say they are an unlikely pair considering how and where they grew up, how they think, etc, but by the end of the book you know they are so right for each other. Their story really had a lot of ups and downs not only in their relationship but in their personal lives with friends and family. They were real problems that you felt inside your chest and at times you wanted to weep with them.

I want to praise Skye on being able to write a story with so much deep, gut-wrenching and heart-warming emotion. You never wonder how the characters feel or what they are thinking. You just know because as a reader you feel it. The intimate scenes are insanely hot in a passionate, respectful, and sweet way. It is never just about sex in her books. Wes loves Rubi so dang much and that emotion comes through in the intimate scenes. Rubi is learning what it is like to love someone and to give up her heart instead of just her body. It is just so good.

To keep from spoiling the book for you, because really, there are so many parts I would love to talk to you about, I will just tell you that you need to read it. If you like smoking hot contemporary romance books with a great story, well developed characters that make you laugh and cry, I strongly recommend you try Rebel.
