Love in February… and Always

“I love you.”

I say it every day. Numerous times.

I say it to my hubby. To my kids. To my dog, Harry.

Actually, I usually say “I wuv you” to Harry. Don’t ask me why.

I say it to my friends in emails, texts, and cards… Love ya! xoxo

And I say it in blog comments and on Facebook and Twitter: I loved this post… I loved this book… I love cupcakes… Love this excerpt… Love your cover

IMG_0836

It’s no surprise I love my family and friends. My writer pals. My readers. Oh, how I love my readers!

I also love writing and reading. I love editing (this has been an acquired taste, but right now I truly am loving it). I love my editors!

And I love the beach and the ocean and the sea air. I love staying up late and I love sleeping in. And running. I love to run. And then I love to eat. I love mochas and lattes and the sound of my hubby’s voice. I love wrapping up in a blanket and watching TV. I love quiet. I love music.

But sometimes – like many of us – I throw those words around too lightly. And I don’t think that’s a bad thing—because I do take the word love to heart. I never say it if I don’t have a fondness, warmth, or affection for the person/thing I’m speaking about. My mom taught me that if I didn’t have something nice to say, to not say anything at all. And I pride myself on living that way. Do I love that book cover as much as I love my dog? No.

Still, love is the one thing there can never be too much of.

And I hope all the people I share Love with know that I mean it. That there is thought and sentiment and purpose behind my “I love you.”

Because I do.

I really do.

So today I want to spread a little love. Leave me a comment about something you love and you’ll be entered to win a $5 Amazon or Barnes & Noble gift card. I’ll post the winner’s name on Thursday.

thHappy February and Happy Valentine’s Day!!

Love,
Robin

Robin, I love your post! :) Seriously, it’s wonderful to go through the day feeling that warmth and appreciation instead of not feeling it. It’s how I prefer to live. So Happy February and an early Happy Valentine’s Day to you!

    • Hi Edie! Oh, I’m so happy you enjoyed my post! Thank you. I was racking my brain trying to think of what to blog about this month and then I was like, February is the month of love, so what can I say about love? I’m quite sure there are lots of writers out there with awesome thoughts on the topic, but this is just my little contribution. <3 <3

I love a lot of things but most of all I love my kids. Well, they’re adults now, but I love them more with every passing year. And now if they’d just be kind enough to have some kids I could love them too. : )

    • Hi Robena! Our children really are at the root of our love, aren’t they? My oldest just turned 21, which is beyond crazy (especially since I’m still 29 ;-)) and yep, my love and admiration for him keeps growing. Thank you for chiming in! <3 <3

Hey, Robin – I am not surprised at this post. It is so your personality (or what I have gathered from online interactions with you). And it fits your books. They are full of love, too! :-)

    • Hi Amy! Thank you! That’s so nice of you to say. Especially since being online is hard for me. I’m naturally shy and quiet (well, until I get to know you, then watch out) and the whole social media thing has taken some getting used to. But I just try and be me and not sweat it. Ha! I sweat all the time – especially during FB parties. Thanks for commenting today! <3 <3

    Happy love month, Robin. ;-)

I love books and music. Best friends and new acquaintances. Readers, and writers, and dogs, and funny movies. I love the color black, and white, and lots and lots of pink. Tiaras, Hello Kitty, and bling, bling, bling.

I’m blessed to love and be loved by my hubby, family, and many treasured friends. I love walks on the beach, warm summer nights, and crazy laughter with an old friend over chocolate cake and chai tea lattes.

I love purple pens, a fresh notebook, an unexpected package. Red tulips, the sound of my kids laughing, The Breakfast Club.

I love the MM gals, and all the great authors who take me away to another world. I love your books and your sweet emails! You never fail to bring a smile to my face. XOXO

    • Dang you, Misty! I’m tearing up here, now. All these comments are so great! We should keep them and put them all together in an MM Love post one day or something. Thanks for sharing your Loves with me, Misty, and thanks for being a great friend! Making the people I care about smile is one of my greatest joys. <3 <3

Hubby and I say “I love you” many times a day — and do truly mean it. We’ve been thru some tough times in our nearly 47 years, and there may be more ahead, but the commitment to love sees us through.
Of course, I love my children, and grandchildren.
    And I love to read.
One might think I love this computer, I’m on it so much, but no, I really don’t even ‘like’ this computer much! I DO like catching up with [stalking :) ] my friends and authors on fb!

    • Hi Donna! Thank you so much for being here today and sharing what you love, too. I love what you said about you and your hubby. Marriage most definitely isn’t always easy, but as you so beautifully put, “the commitment to love see us through.” I feel the same way. I can’t remember where I recently saw something that really stuck with me (I think it might have been something Edie posted on FB?), but the saying was something like… marriage is something between two imperfect people who refuse to give up on each other. That struck a cord with me. My hubby and I are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary this year and we say “I love you” many times a day, too. And mean it. Even on bad days, we mean it.

And LOL at your computer! Uh, sometimes I think my hubby believes I’m married to my computer and not him.

Best wishes to you and your family and Happy Valentine’s Day! <3
