New Release – Vampire in Defiance – book 5 is here!

Update – Sue is the winner of a free backlist book!

Hi everyone,

Jennifer brought up a good point a few days ago about when is a series done. When I wrote this fifth book, there was a huge sense of relief – surely this time the story would be told and the series could be shut down.

Lol. How could I be so wrong!

I was actually looking forward to that – I thought. I mean I do have lots of other series happening and a couple of shorter lighter ones coming up. I write fast – but not fast enough for my readers! And the more popular the series gets, the more fan emails I get with requests for the next book. And this series, although it wasn’t a favorite to begin with, it has taken off and has a large big fan base now. The entrepreneur in me says if it’s popular well of course I’m going to keep going, but the writer in me was thinking the opposite. Time to end it once and for all. There is nothing worse than a series that has kept going well past the time when it should have ended.

Then I went to bed and woke up with the opening line of the next book and I realized this story – Tessa’s story – wasn’t done. In fact, there was so much more to come! But for the moment, I have survived this epic ride  – where character arcs ruled, plots twisted harder and tighter, and the danger become something that no one could survive – I did mention this was fiction right??? And that’s not bad for someone (me) who said she’d never write a vampire book – ever! How wrong could I get!

Vampire in Defiance

girl holding bookThis was it. For Tessa. For Cody. For Jared. Her family. Her Friends.

Moltere’s Mountain is collapsing. With Tessa, her friends and family still inside. Tessa won’t go down without a fight…and she won’t leave the others behind. But as she races to save everyone, time runs out.

Grounded with an injured wing, Cody wants Tessa to leave while they still can. But most of their friends and family are missing. And he fears the worst…

Jared had led the army into the mountain. Only to find they were looking to annihilate all vamps, not just the bad ones. He can’t leave his friends vulnerable to yet another attack. But the mine is a death trap, and he could be the one that ends up dead.

The pressure is on – to save friends, family, each other – only the enemy is just as determined that no one survives.

Available now at Amazon, Barnes and Noble. Coming soon to iTunes, Google Books and Kobo!  And did I mention – book 1 in this series is FREE – Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Google Play.

To celebrate my new release – I’m happy to give an ecopy of one of my books – any one – your choice. Just tell me about any series you can’t get enough of? Or a series you think have had it’s day? Books or TV. I personally can’t get enough of J.D. Robb’s Death series but I’m more than ready to walk about from lots of TV shows – like supernatural and Bones. :)

Congrats on your newest release! I read all your other vampire books, and you have one crazy mind. It’s funny that you have an idea for another Tessa book already.

As for a series, KILLER FROST, Jennifer Estep’s last book in her Mythos Academy, will be out in just a few days. I don’t want it to end! I already told her that it would be cool to see what will happen to her when she and her friends are out of the academy. BTW, that’s another YA book. :)

      Hi Edie,

Thanks for the ‘twisted’ comment. I’ll take that as a compliment. :) And book 5 is a royal ride! Already heard from several fans that it’s the best of the series. :)

I can’t believe the ideas that just keep pouring with that series – I guess that means I keep on writing! And I hear you about Jennifer’s series. Maybe if enough people cry out she’ll pick it up again!

  2. Congrats on your new book! I think one of the reasons series are so popular is that readers enjoying coming back and spending time with old friends. But it is hard to know when to end a series and when to keep going.

Edie — Hope you enjoy KILLER FROST. And I may write that story one day. LOL.

      Hi Jennifer,
I’ve certainly been doing a lot of thinking about that over the last month while I finished off this book. As long as the ideas flow… I’ll keep writing. The only other problem is that I have several other series. It’s hard to keep them all going. :)
