Keeping Focused

ADangerousMadness_300x450My latest historical novel, A Dangerous Madness, released on Monday. It is always exciting to have a new book out, and I always find it really hard to settle down to work on my current project with the thrill of a new release going on. But I have to.

I’ve got deadlines, and I really am having to be strict with myself. It’s hard though.

I know I can’t be alone in this, amongst writers and readers alike. We all have something that distracts us from time to time, and it’s hard to stay on track πŸ™‚

The worst for me is when I reading a really great book and I know I should make dinner / get back to work / clean the house (snort!) but the next chapter is just calling my name πŸ™‚

So I’d love to know what is your secret downfall. Your kryptonite. What makes you put off the things you have to do just that little bit longer so you can do what you really want to be doing?

Giveaway: There is a release day giveaway going on for the launch of A Dangerous Madness, and you can enter it here.

  1. Congrats on A Dangerous Madness! I’m a project gal and work on something until I’m done or I drop, so going online is always dangerous. Can’t get to the end of the Internet, lol. Email, marketing, group messages…well. Fun, though? Just one more chapter of a really enthralling book πŸ™‚

  2. Congrats on your release! I love the cover, the title, and the book!

I agree with Mary – online is dangerous for me. Probably more than reading, though that’s a close second.

  3. Congrats on the release, Michelle! I think reading and social media are the two things that pull me away from doing what I should. They are just so dang fun. I love connecting with people and I love reading. But, there are times I have to buckle down and say that I can’t do those things until my to-do list is done.
