Not that I actually type the words ‘The End’ when I’m done with a manuscript, because I’m never really done with it, *g*, but wrapping it up, finishing, is such a good feeling. And I had that yesterday.
More than half a year of hard work has gone into writing this story, and it’s the longest book I’ve ever written. It felt so good to reach the end, which I wrote six different ways until I was happy with it.
Now I’m reading it through from start to finish in one big gulp to catch any errors or changes I’ve made that I haven’t carried all the way through, and after that, my poor critique partners are going to get hit with it 🙂
For me, the bit that comes next, the rewriting and editing, is the best part of writing. Getting the story down is like torture, the rest, pure joy. And I have to go through the first to get to the second. Such is life 🙂
Now I have to think up a really good reward for myself. Any suggestions?
