New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Stacey Joy Netzel writes heartwarming romances with rugged heroes and resilient heroines. I asked her to tell us what inspired her latest books that she’s published in a series with Donna Marie Rogers. So here is the story behind the story:
The Welcome to Redemption Series began as a short story project between Donna, myself, and another writer friend. We’d all write in the same town, during the county fair, and have a shared scene. Our friend dropped out, but Donna and I were already into our stories, so we kept going. Then we wrote two additional separate stories in the town with a shared scene, and submitted the four as an anthology to a small press publisher, who loved it. A couple years later, we requested our rights back for the first 4 and struck out on our indie publishing journey. Edie was my inspiration for that move (Thank you!!), and I convinced Donna we should give it a shot. We haven’t regretted it since.
After re-releasing the first books, 5 & 6 and 7 & 8 were published also with their connected scenes, and we’ll keep on going as long as readers love them.
On Oct. 8th, books 9 & 10 made their way out into the world: Say You Love Me, by Donna Marie Rogers, and Say You’ll Marry Me, by Stacey Joy Netzel. Despite the serious issue of dementia my heroine’s grandmother is dealing with in Say You’ll Marry Me, I still had an absolute blast writing the story. I fell in love with Logan Walsh, even though he was quite surly in the beginning. And I have to say, this book contains one of the most fun scenes I’ve ever written. It’s still too soon to know if readers think it’s funny, but I seriously cracked myself up while writing it. It involves condoms, but not in the way you’d expect, and you’ll have to read it to find out. 😉
Thanks to Edie for letting me share the books with you today! I hope you pick them up and enjoy.
