Where do Book Blogs fit?

I hope you are having a great day, Magical Musings readers! What new book are you reading right now? Any new-to-you authors?

In a world of social media, do you continue to read blogs or do you get your updates on books and authors from Facebook, Twitter and other social media outlets? Do you still read book blogs for book reviews/spotlight posts?  Do you have blogs that you read every day or follow by email? What makes those blogs special?

Bloggers are always trying to find ways to interact and holder readers’ attention but I am curious where blogs fit in with so many social media options these days. Are book blogs something that had its time or are they just as important today as they were five or ten years ago to inform readers of new books and keep readers updated about their favorite authors?

I am curious what you think!

    Hi, Amy,

Great question! I’ll read individual blog posts if the title or topic grab me, or if the post comes up in an information search. Facebook and Twitter are ways to see the topics. Great card catalogs, but not books, lol.

Amy, great topic! Mary pretty much sums up my thoughts. I used to read more blogs, but I just don’t have the time anymore. I do read all the Magical Musings blogs. 🙂

I used to use Google Reader to keep track of all my blogs that I read. I then realized that I was spending way too much time reading blogs so I got rid of it. I know only go to blogs if I see an interest article on the blog that was advertised on social media. I think that is the way a lot of blogs are going these days. 🙂
