Messages of Love

cardsLast Sunday’s Milwaukee Journal Sentinel had a heart-warming article about a woman dying of cancer who wrote messages of love and encouragement for her young daughter. Before she passed away last December, Heather McManamy wrote 80 messages. Her love lives on in her book, CARDS FOR BRIANNA.

In TRUTH ABOUT LOVE & MURDER, my first Love & Murder book, the heroine’s best friend dies of cancer early on in the book. Like Heather, the heroine’s friend leaves messages of love and encouragement for her seven-year-old son. Every chapter begins with a message. The book was published on July 20, 2015. I’m guessing that Heather and I might have been writing quotes around the same time. In reviews for the book, quite a few readers mentioned how much they loved the quotes.

Here’s one of the messages from Heather to her daughter:

You have the ability to do things you never imagined you could do. Just give it your best shot and you’ll see what I’m talking about.  ~a “kick some butt” card during difficult times

Here’s a quote from TRUTH ABOUT LOVE & MURDER:

Don’t worry about what’s wrong with other people; concentrate on what’s right with you.

CARDS FOR BRIANNA by Heather McManany is available now at Amazon and other retailers.

If you could leave a message of advice for someone you love, what would you say?

    Hi, Edie,

What a beautiful post. I think I’d simply say, I love you. Each and every day.

  2. Lovely post. How wonderful that she left messages for her daughter. And how cool that you did the same thing in your book.

I agree with Mary. I would just tell people I love them and how much they mean to me.

Jennifer, I teared up as I read the article. I think about Liz a lot, and that was so close to her.

Yes, Mary gave the best answer! Let everyone know now how much you love them. And every day is best. 🙂

  3. I love this, Edie! It brings up strong memories of Liz, too.

Michelle, it definitely brings thoughts of Liz. There were prom pictures of Liz’s daughter on Facebook. She looked so beautiful. And happy. I’m glad about that.
