It’s the most wonderful time to read and watch holiday books and movies

So we’re only a few days away from Christmas now. Are you still in the holiday spirit? Or are you ready for the holidays to be over with and for everyone’s schedules to go back to normal?

For me, it’s a little bit of both. I enjoy a lot of things about the holidays — trimming the tree, wrapping presents, listening to Christmas music. But let’s face it. Those things are a lot of work — a lot of work — and all the decorating, shopping, and family gatherings can be stressful.

Miracle on 5th AvenueOne of the things that helps me deal with all the holiday hullabaloo is just taking some time out for myself, especially to read a holiday book or watch a holiday movie.

One of the holiday books on my TBR pile is Miracle on 5th Avenue by Sarah Morgan. Isn’t that just the cutest cover? And I’ve been watching a lot of the romantic comedies that are part of the Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas. Watching the movies is a fun tradition for me and my mom.

I know it sounds a little weird, reading and watching holiday stories to take a break from my real-life holiday stress. But you know what? It’s nice to read a book or watch a movie where you know that everything is going to turn out okay in the end and that everyone is going to have a happy holiday, no matter what obstacles they face. Plus, one of my favorite things about the holidays are all the decorations, and I love seeing all the gorgeous book covers and Christmas trees in the movies.

So when I need a break, I fix myself a cup of hot chocolate — with tons of marshmallows — check out my TBR pile, see what’s on TV, and then settle in and relax for an hour or two. That’s just how I treat myself, along with yoga. I do lots of yoga to help with stress all year long. LOL.

What about you guys? Do you read or watch holiday books and movies? How do you deal with holiday stress?

And a Merry Christmas and happy holiday season to all. 🙂

GOODBYE, MAGICAL MUSINGS

This will be my last post on Magical Musings, as the blog will shut down in the New Year. A big thanks to Edie and Michelle for asking me to join the blog a couple of years ago. I’ve enjoyed working with all the other blog authors and interacting with the blog’s readers.

You can follow me online at Facebook, Twitter, and Goodreads, and you can always check out my blog and website for the latest news on my books.

Thanks again, everyone!

Jennifer, I’ve been reading a lot of holiday books, too. And yesterday, we watched Love Actually again. Probably about the 20th time we’ve watched it. It’s my favorite holiday show. Maybe my favorite show ever. I love how all of the different stories mesh together, and then, at the end, it’s just people in the airport hugging. Love that. As if everyone has their happy holiday story.

Jennifer, it was a joy being on MM with you. I’ll still see you on FB and your own blog!
